Sticky Honey BBQ Little Smokies: 3-Ingredient Game Day Snack

  • Author: Isabel
  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A simple, sticky, and sweet-savory appetizer made with just three main ingredients. These little smokies are coated in a caramelized honey BBQ glaze, making them the perfect hands-free game day snack or party food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz (454g) Little Smokies (frozen)
  • 1 ½ cups (360ml) thick BBQ sauce (e.g., Stubb’s or Sweet Baby Ray’s)
  • ½ cup (170g) honey
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Arrange the frozen little smokies in a single layer in the prepared baking dish. Do not overcrowd.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce and honey until smooth. Add Worcestershire sauce and red pepper flakes if using.
  4. Pour the sauce evenly over the smokies, ensuring every piece is coated. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  5. Bake covered for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for another 20-25 minutes, or until the glaze is bubbly and caramelized. Stir halfway through the uncovered baking if making a large batch.
  6. Serve hot with toothpicks or small forks.

Notes

Little smokies are pre-cooked but should be heated to an internal temperature of 165°F. Do not substitute with regular hot dogs as they are too large. For a slow cooker method, dump all ingredients in and cook on low for 2-3 hours. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days but do not freeze well as the texture becomes rubbery.
