Description
A refreshing summer drink that comes together in five minutes flat. Fresh, fizzy, and perfect for hot days, this sparkling strawberry basil lemonade uses no complicated syrup—just stir and sip.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
- 3–4 tablespoons honey or agave nectar
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, packed
- 2–3 cups sparkling water or club soda, chilled
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Add hulled strawberries and basil leaves to the bottom of a sturdy glass jar or pitcher.
- Use a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon to crush the strawberries and tear the basil leaves to release juices and oils (about 30 seconds).
- Pour in honey (or agave) and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir vigorously to help the sweetener dissolve.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if needed.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes.
- Pour the strawberry-lemon-basil mixture over the ice.
- Top with chilled sparkling water, pouring slowly to preserve carbonation.
- Gently stir to combine.
- Garnish with a fresh strawberry slice and a basil sprig. Serve immediately.
Notes
Do not over-muddle the basil as it can turn bitter. For a thicker consistency, use frozen strawberries and skip ice cubes. The base mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days, but add sparkling water just before serving to maintain carbonation.
