Cozy Pumpkin Spice Latte: Quick 5pm Fix

  • Author: Isabel
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 large mug 1x

Description

A quick and easy homemade pumpkin spice latte ready in 5 minutes using pantry staples. Skip the coffee shop line with this sweet, spiced, and creamy beverage that requires no fancy syrup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup brewed coffee or espresso (strong)
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice (whole milk or oat milk recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream or half-and-half
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 12 tablespoons brown sugar or maple syrup
  • A tiny pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Pour 1/2 cup of milk into a small saucepan over medium heat. Add pumpkin pie spice, sweetener, and salt. Stir constantly until hot and steaming, but not boiling (about 2-3 minutes). Alternatively, microwave in a bowl for 45-60 seconds, stirring halfway.
  2. Remove milk from heat. Use a fork or small whisk to beat the milk vigorously for 15-20 seconds to create foam.
  3. Brew coffee or dissolve instant coffee in hot water. Ensure it is hot so it doesn’t cool the milk mixture.
  4. Pour the hot, spiced milk into a mug with the coffee. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Add heavy cream. Stir for a uniform color or pour slowly over the back of a spoon for a layered effect.
  6. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of extra pumpkin spice. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not boil the milk as it can scorch and ruin the flavor. For a dairy-free version, use oat milk and maple syrup. The spiced milk mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen in ice cube trays for later use.
