Description
A quick and easy homemade pumpkin spice latte ready in 5 minutes using pantry staples. Skip the coffee shop line with this sweet, spiced, and creamy beverage that requires no fancy syrup.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup brewed coffee or espresso (strong)
- 1/2 cup milk of choice (whole milk or oat milk recommended)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream or half-and-half
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1–2 tablespoons brown sugar or maple syrup
- A tiny pinch of salt
Instructions
- Pour 1/2 cup of milk into a small saucepan over medium heat. Add pumpkin pie spice, sweetener, and salt. Stir constantly until hot and steaming, but not boiling (about 2-3 minutes). Alternatively, microwave in a bowl for 45-60 seconds, stirring halfway.
- Remove milk from heat. Use a fork or small whisk to beat the milk vigorously for 15-20 seconds to create foam.
- Brew coffee or dissolve instant coffee in hot water. Ensure it is hot so it doesn’t cool the milk mixture.
- Pour the hot, spiced milk into a mug with the coffee. Stir gently to combine.
- Add heavy cream. Stir for a uniform color or pour slowly over the back of a spoon for a layered effect.
- Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of extra pumpkin spice. Serve immediately.
Notes
Do not boil the milk as it can scorch and ruin the flavor. For a dairy-free version, use oat milk and maple syrup. The spiced milk mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen in ice cube trays for later use.
