Description
This classic blackberry mint lemonade is ready in 10 minutes flat. Fresh berries, crisp mint, and tart lemon make the perfect summer refresher.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh blackberries
- 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
- 4–5 medium lemons (yielding about 1 cup fresh lemon juice)
- 3/4 cup simple syrup (or granulated sugar)
- 1–2 cups sparkling water
- Ice
Instructions
- Make the simple syrup by combining 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup hot water in a small saucepan. Stir until dissolved and let cool.
- Toss the blackberries and mint leaves into a large pitcher. Use a muddler or rolling pin to crush the berries and bruise the mint to release juices and oils.
- Pour in the fresh lemon juice and simple syrup. Stir well to combine.
- Add about 4 cups of cold water to the pitcher. Stir and taste, adjusting sweetness or tartness as needed.
- Just before serving, add sparkling water for fizz. Pour over ice and garnish with a sprig of mint and a blackberry.
Notes
For a clearer drink, strain through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth. Can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Can be frozen as ice cubes for later use. Can be spiked with vodka or gin for a cocktail.
